I am not a expert on zoos. I have a couple different colors and some looks good and some does not. I have pinks, strawberry dreams, green death, and bam bam orange. The pinks and strawberrys are bigger clusters of 40 or more and looks wonderful all the time. The green death and bam bams are about half open and don't look good. In my tank its always seem to be the bigger the cluster the better they look. I also have green centered buttons that always looks great no matter what. Everything is good in the tank. Its a 55 with pc's and the rest of my corals, like ricordea and other shrooms and a couple hard corals looks awesome. Thats why I always try to purchase bigger clusters of zoos and thats hard to do sometimes because nobody wants to sell any of the nicer zoos in anything but frags. I would send pics, but my camera is down. Thanks!!!

The thing about zoos in large colonies is that sometimes the prices would be ridiculous in anything but small frags. With good water quality, proper lighting, and some TLC frags can quickly become large colonies themselves. This question came up before about closed up zoos, and i find that if the polyp tissue is healthy, usually the lighting for that specific piece is too intense. Moving stuff lower in your tank is usually never a bad idea, but just keep an eye on them. Remember that in the ocean, they all grow at different depths, and even though they might be very similar to another zoo, they may have different requirements for care. Good luck and get some pictures for us!

I have a small colony of 25 blackjacks or xmen palys really dont know but... they were doing ok at the bottom of my tank for 4 weeks. I moved them near the top one day cause the only reason they were on the bottom was a snail knocked em down. They did good up top for 1-2 weeks then slowly stayed closed for 3 days and i thought they were dead. They got real small and i thought they were gonna melt. I put them on the bottom of the tank and they all opened in 2 days, every mouth was snow white. I've left them on sandbed these past couple weeks and they look almost back to normal.

I have a frag of rommels that are doing the same thing now so im gonna move them to the bottom tonight.
