I have always held distance from Zoas and pallys as i am really scared of palitoxins. Now a friend offered me some for free and said they are the least dangerous zoa species. Can anyone pls explain are there really harmless species? How about when there is any kind of stress such as light, heat, a fish picking or water parameters. Will they release toxins? Isnt it dangerous to get your hand into the water considering you could have a wound or whatever?

Ty

Everything has some type of defense to protect themselves. Yes the toxin in these creatures are extremely dangerous if you pretty much do something stupid like boil the rock, eat the zoa, frag it without gloves on and then dont wash your hands and touch your face or eat something.

Bottom line take precaution and you will be fine.

I swear some people think they are ninja assassins ready to strike at any moment. They are fine to handle. Never used gloves. I only wear eye protection when cutting them and wash hands after. It is only stupidity that will get someone in trouble.

i personally don’t see how someone would not have the inclination to wash their hands after handling corals....
that’s just nasty!

i understand some people’s olfactory senses are greatly diminished.
but how do you not feel the slime???

Any animal in nature will defend itself. If you do the research on what you are handling and take reasonable precautions you will be fine.
