I’ve been struggling with my Zoas not opening and progressively this has become a big problem in the tank. When I’ve mentioned this in a number of LFS one of the two factors mentioned were Iodine and Potassium. On completing an Iodine Test the result was zero, nothing eg below 0.03. I’ve then tested the salt water used in the water change and that records greater than 0.03. I’m going to add Iodine with a view to increasing the levels and see if this recovers the Zoas. Any views on Zoas and or Potassium?

I would honestly look at your light flow and nutrients.
I’ve seen zoas grow in swamp tanks with zero water changes and no dosing whatsoever.

Food and salt mixes are the two biggest methods of idone dosing and potassium.

I dose Iodide/Iodate via my ato..I add a half ML. (.50 ML)to five gallons,,,I have a high consumption/demand for it my system..as of now my evap on my system is about 3-4 gallons daily,,you have to underdose for say,,to play it safe but try to maintain some levels of Iodide in the water constantly..
My system is all softies ,95% palys/zoas and cannot do WC enough to keep up with the Iodide consumption and higher nutrients needed for these palys/zoas.
I dont think dosing any Iodine/Iodide is your problem,,but try flow and WC first then move onto other topics..
