I currently have a 24"x24"x12"T frag tank. I am aquiring in a trade a Nove retro setup T-5 6 bulb 18W 24". Would this be a decent lighting setup for this tank to grow out zoas? Or should i stick with halides?

or would these work better staggered on my 36x36x8T frag tank for zoas?

IMO lighting is not a big deal with zoas....I have some that love light, some that hate it. My LFS uses just actinics and my zoas have a problem adjusting to my PCs, but one's that I have bought from people using MHs do just fine under my PCs. I am always moving them either into shade or into stronger lighting attempting to find what they like.

6 bulbs on a 12" deep tank is a lot of light, I believe that if you use the right combination of bulbs, sticking mainly with blues, you will be fine.
