zoas are looking bad help Please !!

my zoas have went from thriving like crazy to looking almost white and only a few opening can anyone tell me what going on? I wonder if the flame angel is hitting them or if there is something more going on.
Please help!

Yeah. I guess possibly its the flame angel nipping. I've had 2 and they nipped every coral in the tank. Might try trapping the angel and seeing if the zoas open up.

Honestly mine go in cycles. Look good for a month and grow like crazy. Then look bad for a week. I'm a biologist and I truly think it may be part of a naturally occurring event that is important for their life cycle.

The pic isn't clear. Can you describe the white? My first thought was you might have some type of fungus infection.

I don't Flame angel caused it. How high the coral in your tank and light?

I have a large Rasta colony that likes to do this....... Beautiful for a month then closed for a few days. So this colony has been closed up for a week? Have you noticed any melting?

Could it be the frogspawn maybe stung them since its a little close ?

Also kind blow them off with a turkey blaster thing cause they grow dead skin and shed I've noticed usually after u blast them clean they seem happier

Well if it was the flame angel you would see other corals getting nipped as well. Do you see the zoa poylps openeing funny. like half way opening, or opening so much it looks like a ball shape? Do you see anything growing on the base of the zoas at all? Are the zoas starting to thin out and the base skin that links the zoas together getting thin? Please get some better pics up so we can see the zoas better. It could be some big issues or nothing at all. It is too hard to guess without some good pics showing the zoas closer up.

They look like they are just all closed up. Happens sometimes but a week is a long time if they aren't opening at all. check them out at night and see if theres any critters bothering them. Spiders or nudi's etc
