I have these two Zoa frags, one I have had for about two months, and the other I have had for about double that. They have been doing really great in my tank until about a week ago. First the smaller of the two frags, which is a really awesome bright red color, was all closed up and appeared to be closer to the plug rather than reaching more towards the light like usual. They haven’t opened since but they don’t appear to be dying off as I’ve had that happen before (I’ve had this tank for three years and this seems more like they are stressed or unhappy rather than dying). A few days after, the other plug had a similar effect as they appeared smaller, except these polyps stayed open. I was wondering if anyone had any advice and I was also wondering if it was possible that they are getting picked on. I have two cleaner shrimp and they are notorious for bullying my corals for food and although I haven’t caught them in the act with these zoas, I have a suspicion. Thoughts?
P.S. My water parameters haven’t changed and the only thing out of order is my nitrates at 40 ppm but they have been that way throughout the time I have had these and it has not affected them before.

Honestly I feel like zoas are finicky like that. Sometimes they do well and then all of a sudden they're closed up.

How are your other corals doing?

I have a whole bunch of zoas and for some reason this one won't open up just like yours and it seems to be shrinking away.

Same here they look healthy though so just ride it out. It happens to me with my colonies sometimes and they eventually come back. See some pics since u are a zoa lover too .

I see those tiny white specks on them. I suspect zoa pox. Perhaps google it and see if that’s what you think it is. I think it’s a type of fungus.

I think it’s definitely possible that it could be the early onset of zoa pox. Unfortunately I have treated previous colonies for that and it looked slightly different but it is very possible that it is that and I am just catching it earlier than before. I hope I will be able to locate some treatment for them if it continues to get worse. Btw those are some really beautiful pictures you all are posting
