My tank has been running for about a month and a half. There is this thin hairy algae covering the rock and it is covering my corals I believe that is the problem to why my zoas aren't opening, can someone help?

Got a picture? Do you have a clean up crew?

Zoa's can take a while to get acclimated to your tank. Sometimes up to a month or more. Some of mine took about a month in a half. Unfortunately new tanks tend to have algae outbreaks while the tank goes through the process of establishing its' beneficial bacteria population. Also keep in mind, when you have a high nutrient enviroment and lots of light that tends to encourage algae growth. Are you testing your tank water? Do you do water changes? What is the source of your water? Everything effects the tank in some way.

I test my water twice a week and no ammonia, nitrite and nitrate spikes. I haven't done a water change yet. I make my own saltwater with instant ocean sea salt

What are your phosphates? when you get a chance, check out some of the articles Reef 2 Reef has on the relationship of nitrates, phosphates and algae growth. It really helped me understand the process between tank perameters and the encouragement of algae growth.
