I can attest that zoas can do more than just morph into slightly different color combinations, but also drastically different colors. One experience invoved Radioactive Dragon Eyes and Eagle Eyes which seems to be common, but the latest is a colony of Treehouse of Horror. The colors and patterns are completely different. I even fragged it into 4 separate frags and placed in different sections of my frag tank to rule out lighting. (if I remember, I will attach pics)
I believe the main reason for the drastic morphing has to do with nutrients, mainly a sharp increase in nitrates.
