Hi all. I have a lot of zoas and they are usually fine. I do a 10% water change weekly- keep all parameters in check.

This week I switched out carbon for GFO in my reactor and ram eater through until it appeared clear. However, many of my zoas are staying closed over last two days. Could it be I have GFO particles in the tank? Maybe I didn't rinse well enough?
Thanks
M

My zoads closed up after a salinity crash from a malfunction of my ato...they are slowly coming back...I also used some GfO in the Elite remover bag...I don't think it bothered anybody until the crash...good luck...they are very hardy...

Yeah. They are probably fine. Just wondering if that could be bothering them.

It may just take time for them to readjust to new water conditions...mine went through a bad period with my salinity crash...now starting to open up...it may take a good dose of patience...:)

That I can afford and have in large supply. Thank you.
Mike

I rinse the HECK outta my gfo before I use it. Tap ro rinse.
How much gfo did you put in?
FWIW in my 30cube if i add a teaspoon of gfo the candycanes shrink up to the skeleton and almost die the the toadstool faints and pouts. I take it out and they're fine.
and yea in a reactor you may have stripped the po outta the water coloum, esp with a large amount..

imo ime, so bear with me, that large a volume is probably a lot to start with.
My research(from the gfo probs I had during a cyano battle) usually suggest very slow addition.

I hear you. I am gonna get home and pull out more than half of what I have in there. I can't hurt.
Tell you what - my hair algae issue is no longer.

Still having some open and some closed. Maybe lights are too low. My lux meter reads 36k. I am running my LEDs at 40 blue and 15 white. Any suggestions?
