My coral has been doing well then all of a sudden they aren't opening. Nitrates are 1 Nitrites are 0 Kh is 10. Ph is a little low could that be the cause? I have frogspawn also closing up but my mushrooms are fine. Any ideas?

I would start by doing a nice size water change. And check your parameters again after. Could be lack of nutrients also soft corals need some dirty water to thrive.

Water change was yesterday. I just added suppliments, iodine etc. Ill see how it goes. Thanks!

Are you experiencing any parameter swings? How often are you testing? MG, CA and Salinity? I run ULN, softies do just fine, but your ALK is way too high with NO3 being that low... spells disaster. Make sure the salt your using doesn't have a high ALK content.

No parameters stay about the same. I was testing biweekly. Ive been using imagitarium pacific ocean water since may. Never had any issues until now. Salinity is 1.026 on a refractometer. Calcium is around 400. I don't have a mag test kit.

Is the brown algae stringy stuff on the rock work only around the polyps or on the polyps? I'd be hitting that rock with a turkey baster and identifying where the brown stuff is coming from.

It started to grow on them but blastes it off. I have no idea what it is. Ive been fighting the stuff. I have been manually removing it

Personally they don't look that bad, something off for sure, but they're clearly trying to open up. That brown stuff alone may be the culprit.

Ok thanks. They are open much more than they were. The frogspawn used to openen way up. Hopefully they will come around too.

Tank is very young and will have to mature more. part of the deal...
Siphon that brown algae out when changing water.
Keep stable and clean.
Watch your lights, specially if they are LEDs..

Agreed, except for the LED part. Zoas will grow and thrive just the same under any type of light.

I was referring to the intensity control of the LEDs.
Adaptation is very important..

That brown looks like the dinos I had/have and my zoas looked exactly the same. May want to look into that. Use of a microscope would confirm it.
