Hi All!

In my frag tank, my Zoas & Palys don't grow quickly at all. They all open and seem great, just don't spread.
Hard coral grows real well, however.
In my display tank, Zoas & Palys proliferate like crazy!

Both have Hydra 52's . I understand that the frag tank is shallow so lighting is different. I do have the light like 16" above the water line. Both tanks have similar lighting schedules.

The frag tank does have a much larger sump - a 40B. I remove a 5 gal bucket of cheato every 3 weeks.
The DP does not grow cheato as much.

I was thinking because the frag tank is too clean because of all the nutrient export?

I don't test as often as I should but I did recently all seemed ok.

Thoughts?

I had the same problem before. I doubled the flow in my tank. It took them a while to adjust to the increased flow but now everything's taken off.

No I would not say flow.
These guys love nutrients.
What is your no3 and po4 at?

Just speculating that might be the one of the differences between your two systems. You probably already have protein skimmers in your sumps right?

Absolutely! I don't mind throwing an air stone in there. Can't hurt!
