any idea why the zoas on the plug are dying slowly over a period of weeks? the outside one continue to grow out on the rock faster than they are dying so I dont think water quality is an issue

also worth noting I have 4 more zoa patches doing great. they are not growing nearly as fast as these but I don't suspect a pest for that reason. could it be too much flow?

Something is definitely disturbing the center. Long shot but are any other tentacle stingers near such as Frogspawn, anemones or even aiptasia. Lighting & Flow changes can play a major role but remove any dead tissue and boost aminos .

Have you checked for zoa eating nudibranches? Whenever I have problems with my zoas I put them in freshwater for 2 minutes blasting them with a turkey baster. This seems to help them quite a lot if it is related to a pest :)

Nothing close that i would suspect is stinging (at least i don't think). i pulled the plug and dipped it in koralmd. remounted in a place with less flow. We'll see how it recovers. i can't see any pests but i'll try to look closer
