Having an issue with any zoas that I take off the rack and mount down on the rocks. As you can see the racks aren't much further away from the rocks that i'd like to completely cover with zoas. Strange thing is that some morphs seem to have survived. Others that I've had for a year or so, have withered away in just a few weeks just by moving them to the rocks. what gives!!!!!?!!?!?!?

Right above the racks is a vortech mp40. I was thinking possibly a flow issue, going from higher flow to lower flow, but there's is some movement down there.

Maybe a predator?
I thought asterinas were a problem as i usually see them on the polyps. I would think these would also be a problem on the rack though, so I think they are just eating whats dying. I wouldn't completely write off predation but not sure what wouldn't be able to get them on the rack as opposed to on the rock.

I had the same problem going on n then I noticed my zoas take off once I gave them good flow

I have been contemplating getting rid of one of my MP40s and swapping it out for the gyre. That will have to wait, but for now I can try to move the mp40 down lower and get the racks out of the way.

Asterinas are a problem as they eat any zoa that's rotting but most of the times the hurt the colony. Get a harlequin and have tou checked the par where the rack is? Maybe you can move the light to give more lighr where the zoas are on the rock

I do know when my water was super clean my Zoanthids didn't look as good as they do now because I switched from every week water changes to every 2-3 weeks

I was running an experiment to try and cure my hippo of hlle so I ran skimmerless and only a few water changes since August, no carbon, minimal gfo.

I use carbon and gfo but I feed my reef twice a week .Do you feed your reef????I know everybody has different views on feeding

I have a few coral foods but don't feed on the regular. I do feed fish heavily, at least twice daily. Are you targeting or broadcast?
