So I finally got my first frags. I get them home and find 2 aiptasia on a frag. Grrr... I refragged all of them and tossed the plugs they were on. I am being super careful not to get aiptasia this time. Set up a frag tank for quarantine even but that being said I dipped the frag in 30/70 kalk/water mix to kill the aiptasia then I super glued the spot with the aiptasia. Zoas haven't opened since. It's been 2 days... Are they done? Anyone else ever dip zoas in kalk? Kind of annoying for me and a crap start...

Kalk is a pretty powerful acid burn. Anything you dip in it will burn.

I've not heard of anyone using as a dip ever.

See what happens with the zoas. They might recover.

hope so, thanks for the reply! I've kept aquariums for a long time but never did this before. New red sea reefer, spent a ton of money on this new build. I freaked out when I seen aiptasia. glad I had them in a qt at least

Sounds like a mistake.
Most people use kalk paste to kill stuff.

No, no Kalk paste. Big mistake.
Just remove the Aiptasia with a sharp knife side ways and place the frag in quarantine.

Grandis.

They melted. Long gone and not buying corals from that shop ever again
The only bad thing was the presence of the Aiptasia.
They probably didn't have anything to do with the melting, but the Kalk paste you did.
Next time scrape off the anemone and don't use kalk...
Any store can give you Aptaisia on any frags...

well the coral actually pulled through! One out of 7 polyps finally opened back up. :)
