we all on this forum love and appreciate the subtle beauty of a cluster of zoas in a myriad of colors. But how do they look in the wild? I've always wondered how purple deaths, eagle eyes, nuclear greens, ppe, etc look in their natural habitat. Does anyone have such a pic to share?

Wow...great thread...would love to see those pics if anyone has them?

I promise to post mine when I return from Hawaii in July:tongue:

I would be interested in seeing those pics also. Never thought about it, but I bet those pics would be interesting. I bet the guy from Aloha Corals has some of those pics.

Remember, guys/gals, sunlight is 6500K. We typically are looking at corals through our green tinted glass with a spectrum of 10K or higher. What we are seeing is the light reflected off of the corals. Dark colored corals are absorbing a lot of light where lighter colored corals are reflecting it. There are color differentiations between corals in the same colonies.

If you look at the corals in this tank;

You will not find corals looking like that in the wild. He has an incredible tank and his light selection is what brings out the colors in his coral. If you really want to see some wild stuff, put on some yellow safety glasses and look at your tank!

Here are a couple shots from my recent thread:
