Zoas Inverting

What does it mean when your zoas invert or turn inside out, does it mean they have too much light or not enough? Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Do you mean when the perimeter of the polyp moves down toward the base so that they polyps looks like a mushroom? I always thought it was some sort of feeding response, a way to capture particulate matter from the water column. In my experience, zoas/palys will close up (and maybe not open) after a few days with too much light.

I posted a pic but yes it looks like a mushroom. I have seen some pictures of your zoas, what do you use for lighting?

I had that going on with a few Z's; moved them to indirect light and a month later it went away.

IME, I think they are trying to decrease the amount of total flat surface area in order to reduce the amount of light. That is prolly why they quit doing it when you reduced the lighting.
