Furan-2 or RedSlimeRemover. Sounds like a zoa fungus. Do a search there are tons of talks about how to dip/treat pox/fungus.

is your Mag 450 or 1450? That could be a huge issue. I have been dosing vitamin C for about 6 months now and noticed a significantly better response to my zoas hardiness.

In my experience, if the polyps just seem to be melting away, (no visible fungus), then I will dip in Lugols (high concentration - 20 drops per half gallon) for about 5/10 minutes. If you see a decent amount of that thicker black / brown fungus growing, then I will do a hydrogen peroxide dip and toothbrush the fungus away (for about 3 minutes).

h2o2 dip (hydrogen peroxide) best dip for zoas if they have an infection it will clear with this dip. They might stay closed for a day or 2 after this type of dip ,but it always works for me. I do about 50/50 dip.

typo 1450
i will try the hydro dip thanks for the help i keep you guys updated

It usually hard once the brown film starts. You can try any of these methods suggested above but dont try all of them at one time, it will stress the coral too much.

Try one and give the coral couple of days and try an other one. Sometimes its hard to control the downward spiral .

i did the hydro dip and seems to be working the zoas was caked with this stuff on some of them. 5 minutes dip a light scrub and they came out looking clean then they finally opened even the gha gone. pretty amazing stuff. thanks all.

Nice ill have to try that next time it happens too me I recentyl lost my CC Rainbow Rhino's due to that

Pulled this off another site; 50/50 tank water to 3% hydrogen peroxide(standard first aide use bottles at the drug store) dont do sps.. alot of people have issues with that but excelent results from dipping zoas and lps..

dipping will work, but if they need strong flow also!! imho you can dip all you want but if placed in low flow it will be counterproductive to the dip benefits! So dip and place in good flow!! Works for me!

I might add... when one dip isn't looking promising I'll do all of them consecutively... H2O, revive, h2o2 & maybe even flatworm exit just in case!... don't leave them more than 2-3 in each though

Is there a still active thread concerning this? I'm having the same trouble with my zoanthids. First the polyp closes and then the flesh starts to turn brown. They melt soon after. I've tried all the tips that are listed above to no avail. Already lost 37 Rastas, 1 Cornbread White Zombie, 6 Sonic Flares, 5 pink zippers, and many others. This is costing me hundreds of dollars.
