They’ve been in the tank about a month, and never fully opened, I have a Icecap gyre 1000 set to 20% random flow pattern and the stock return pump set at half speed, the lighting is a 165 watt Chinese led, I will be upgrading to a ai prime in about a month, there is zero nitrates and phosphate, but I can not control the algae for some reason, any recommendations

Zoas like some nutrients in the water... your tank might be too clean. Also check for zoa eating nudibranches.

I have started feeding the zoas to try to raise the nutrients, I have been checking for pests all week, I might dip the drag just to be safe

Yes since day one
My guess it probably is related to the low nutrients or some external factor. Try to put it in different positions and play with flow and lighting. Always wait for 1/2 days after replacing. If that doesn’t do the trick you might want to dose some nitrates/phosphates and check your iodine level.

Cant see uploaded photos ,but I agree, the tank may be to clean. It some cases, the algae is consuming phosphates before testing. I found out when Zoas succumb to severe stress or illness it can take months on top of months for them to return back fully healthy and continue reproducing. I found this out by adding some new additions to my tank which thrived
and I realized 3-4 week recovery doesn't cut in for some zoas. Before I spent many month chasing numbers and spending cash on some unnecessary upgrades when a simple adjustment in my lighting fixed everything + a reactor
