so i have a couple frags of zoas and one big rock of watermellon zoas that will not open up. i have multiple corals in my tank that are thriving. 2 big bta. 25 head frogspawn. acans. nepthea. all are growing fast and doing fantastic. what are some parameters i should be looking for that would cause zoas to not open up but everything else in my tank is thriving.

Zoas can be finicky sometimes, but also one of the hardiest corals out there. Remember that they are photosynthetic and not all zoas like the same amount of light. A lot of the "designer" zoas (thats what I call the high end ones) can be very picky when it comes to placement. I have had zoas that opened as soon as 20 mins after introduction and others that took 2 weeks. It really just depends . Maybe they don't like the flow. Just a couple options for you to look at.

They have decent flow right now. Ill move them up tonight and see if that affects anything. Just was freaking out cz literally everything is doing great but my zoas lol

Turn a flashlight on tonight and look to see if there are any little nudibranchs crawling on them. These pests are vicious and will target the higher end zoas. I have dealt with them before.

Yea ive dipped them 2 times to makes sure there wasnt any. Ill check that tonight too. Thanks
