I got few zoas that are opened too much.the small tenticle are facing downward and the mouth is sticking up. What could the cause of it be?or is this normal?

Well it does but they are pulling food from the water. I would not do anything different. They look happy. Mine do it all the time

Mine are like that all day long everyday until the lights go out and then then close.

Lol ur alrite i acually have 1 morph of zoas that look like an umbrella usually when i stick my hand in the tank they all extend like that , there fine dun wrry

I have one colony that looks like that and has since shortly after I got it. There are about 2X as many polyps now.

The problem I have with mine is it gets red alge over it a lot so only a few open at a time. I'm always cleaning the alge off it.

Paulbragin- I have tired to remove this alge from my tank for many years. It's been a on going battle in my aquarium.

I know what you mean, I've been battling brown algea too for few months now. I use rodi water for everything, have rowaphos and carbon reactor. Do fifty percent water change every month. My peramiters are almost perfect. It must be something that just stays no matter what you do. How are you peremiters? Do u use tap water or rodi water? Someone told me using hydro peroxide from any food market would help remove any unwanted algea. I tried it but i didn't see any difrent. Try researching that solution.

I use tap water with a conditioner. All the water peremiters are good in my tank. All the corals are doing great. I have added lots of snails and that seems to be knocking it back a little bit.

Tap water may be the cause of your algae. There is phosphates and nitrates and other things plants like in it. It is very hard to keep algae at bay unless you use RODI water.

I use rodi water and I still have brown algea growing on my rocks and glass. My tank is more then a year old. I change my rowaphos and carbon every month when I do my water changes, I have chetomorpha in my sump.
