Zoas & Palys fell onto sand bed - Melting

If you bake use the second product on the calculator, sodium carbonate. I don't recall the reason for baking it, but I've always used it straight out of the box

Awesome [emoji106]

Was tagging along because I'm very interested in zoas myself. Seems like I remember several people on here saying zoas prefer a little higher nitrates. Hopefully some others with experience will chime in. Really hope you can save some of yours.

Thanks, I hope so too because I really really want some of these beauties in my tank. I’m going to get it figured out and with the helpful folks here that increases my chances. [emoji1]

Looks like it may be Zoa pox. Had you been feeding them? (they do require at least once a week nutrition). Also add aminos, potassium and trace elements to their environment occasionally. Made a difference with mine. I have many colonies now !

Nice zoas! What do you feed them?

Look up zoa pox. A condition that will typically melt zoas away

Baking soda...I think I would just do a water change. Coral Pro salt.

You are going to want your alk up to (8 is a good place with no nutrients) mag is down, I'd bring that up and the goal is to keep them as steady as possible. Now for the zoas, they are a hardy coral, but they do like dirtier water. They like the extra nitrates and phosphates. I personally keep mine at 2 ppm trates...9 alk I dose using af balling method and I also use their salt.

Wow! Those look gorgeous & that’s what I would love to have in my tank some day. But this is the 3rd time I’ve tried zoas with no luck. I haven’t given up yet. Thanks

If your phosphorus levelis 121 ppb then then your phosphate is 0.37 a bit high

I thought that too, it was running about 0.25 according to the API test kit (hard to tell the true color). Just got the Hanna checker 2 weeks ago and finding it’s more accurate for sure.

I love all the colors of zoas but, like you, I have no luck with them. Definitely following this for all the information! Good luck!
