Hi everybody,

In the last week, this colony of Zoas starting shrinking and dying

IMG_7968.png

part of the colony is not shrinking but is not fully open. Two weeks ago these same Zoas was in this way

IMG_7635.png

I noted some of the other Zoas at the beginning of the day are fully open but at the end of the day before the light is off are not open. Maybe is too much light?

## No changes in the water

Tank 3 months old
PH 8.2
dKH 10
Phosphate 0.5
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0
Salinity 35
Calcium 440
Magnesium 1350
Temperature 78

## No changes in the light (Kessil A80 Blue) 12 hours period

One thing happens in the last two weeks I had an explosion of these guys which I don't know what they are

I don't know what is happening. Any idea what is happening? Any advice with lights or water parameters?

Thanks!
Martin

Those things are flatworms, if your tank is big enough melanurus wrasse wil eat them
Those are ghost flatworms not the bad kind. They eat pods. No reason to overreact to those. Come and go.

The first zoa looks like it wants more light. Its stretching. I agree need more nitrate.

What's the par. And what is the setting g of the kessil

Hi @sfin52

The Kessil light is 4" over the tank like the manual say for mix tank, I don't know the par, but the tank is small only 10"

The setting of the Kessil:

10 AM Int 10%
12 PM Int 65% color 45%
14 PM Int 80% color 70%
15 PM Int 100% color 80%
16 PM Int 85% color 75%
18 PM Int 80% color 65%
20 PM Int 40% color 30%
22 PM OFF

I can try to feed more the fish and coral to see of Nitrate go up, but too much food can make phosphates go up too :)

Thank you!

They like some nitrate. Zero is too low

try feeding the fish more?

Hi @splitting_lanes

I can try to feed more the fish and coral to see of Nitrate go up, but too much food can make phosphates go up too :), but I agree should be more Nitrate and is strange in a small tank Nitrate is zero.

Thank you!

Hey! From personal experience your issue is nitrate/ phosphates imbalance. Try raising your nitrates and lowering your phosphates with GFO

Irritated by acoel flatworms. Siphon as many as you can and add a 6 line or melanurus wrasse to tank to eat remainder

Those zoas look like they are stretching. Typically too low light. You didn’t mention what light you are using or the size of your tank

HI @joseserrano

The light is Kessil A80 Blue with 12 hours period

10 AM Int 10%
12 PM Int 65% color 45%
14 PM Int 80% color 70%
15 PM Int 100% color 80%
16 PM Int 85% color 75%
18 PM Int 80% color 65%
20 PM Int 40% color 30%
22 PM OFF

The tank is 4 gallons

Hows the flow around the zoa. They can stretch for flow not as common as light.

@sfin52 here the flow

IMG_7902.png

The main pump for filtration create som flow from the reflation in the front of the tank, could be that the reason?

The smaller pump on the side creates some flow for the SPS on the top of the rocks.

Do you think I should slow the main pump?

Thank you for your help!

If they are stretching for flow. it may not be enough flow for the zoa in thier current location.

Did you ever figure out what was the issue. I'm having a similar problem. I think I've scrubbed the tank too clean and it's causing issues. Strangely some zoas are doing well and growing and several other frags are either not doing great or dying. Everything else in the tank is happy.

I'm thinking either too much light or not enough nutrient...
