Zoas shrinking away....

Another update...

It looks like the worst is over. I lost a number of polyps but things are starting to open again with the exception of one frag. It still looks plump though so I hope it will open tomorrow.

Got my test kit in:
Mag: 1280
Alk: 8.4
Ca: 420

I'm pretty much right where I should be. You can see some of the ticked off polyps here but they are starting to open again.

They are looking much better. With the exception of one frag, everything that survived is open again. I'll take a pic later when the lights are on.

image.jpeg This frag still won't open though. It reacts to light but won't open. You can see it extended itself. It is even growing babies. I don't get it.

I know this may sound odd but have you thought about using chemiclean?
Its an anti bacterial

I think the chemiclean is actually anti fungal. I've used it quite a few times for similar issues with great success. I would also check very closely for zoa eating nudi or spiders. Do you have wrasse in your tank? I would always keep a wrasse for this purpose alone.

following i have the same problem
they where fine for 3 months and boom started closing

may be worth turning the lights up a tad. it looks like they're stretching pretty far. I could never keep zoas until I did my reef bowl now my zoas are doing great. I don't get it lol

I would suggest trying a dose of chemiclean, like was suggested to me. It seems to have done the trick.

I've been slowing increasing the intensity on the lights now that everything is open again. I'm running at 100% blue, 75% white (estimates) and about 55% intensity. I'm working that up to the 60-70% range. We'll see how everything reacts.

Yep, that's the stuff. The directions are on the box. You treat the entire tank for 48 hours and then do a 20% water change.

They're jussst barely starting to peak out. Few more days and maybe they will get over their stage fright. :)
