Anyone know what's going on with these Zoas? The urchin carried them around and dropped them in the sand. I picked them up to reglue them and they look like they are going to pop! They didn't close when I picked them up either. Thanks!

Zoas sometimes invert a bit, no one really knows why. Mine do it after they are feed, I have to assume they do it when their happy, the 2 colonials thay do it the most have been growing babies weekly.
Not sure about your acan, I'd take it out and dip it.

Thanks! I was afraid they were throwing in the towel. They appear to be okay now...first I'd seen them do that.

As for the acan, his flesh is deteriorating and I can see skeleton on that side now. I think I had him too close to the lights so I moved him mid tank. I hope that's it and it stops receding. Fingers crossed...

That's what it looks like when they throw in the towel, they start to shrink. Not sure why I'm losing them but tried 3 locations for them. Going to toss them during next tank cleaning.

Ok, I'll keep an eye on them. I really appreciate it.

So I moved the acan to the bottom of the tank and while he has not puffed up yet, the white decay seems to have stopped. There is a little exposed skeleton but that area is not growing. I did go the to the LFS and they measured the tank water's calcium and magnesium, both being low so I am slowly adjusting them. (Maybe that is why the Zoas are acting funny?!) I also tried to target feed the corals so hopefully that will help!

Did you dip the acan? Cal and mag being a little low wouldn't cause anything to form on the acan or cause the zoas to not open. The urchin could have hurt the zoas possibly. What kind of lighting are they under?

Yes, I just bought it on Saturday and dipped it before putting it in the tank. Now that the white fuzzy stuff is gone, there is a little skeleton showing. I really may have had it way too high in the tank. Zaos are doing well I guess...not bulging anymore.

The lights I have are the standard Biocube lights...10k and Actinic and blue LEDs.

Good to hear, lighting is usually the issue. It's better to have to little light than to much.
