Simple question, why won’t my zoas open??

How long have they been in the tank and what's the lighting like?

I have a 32.5 FluvalSmart tank with the lighting that comes with it, and the zoas have been in about 6 months
How long have they been closed? When they were open did they look extended, like they were reaching for more light?

Could the "amphipods" be irritating them? Can you provide a close up of the critters crawling around them,

They’ve been pretty closed up for about a month

Simple
Prepare some rodi in a small container and plop them in for a couple minutes. I would let them sit for more then 3-4 though. Zoas are pretty hardy little guys.

I had zoas do this in a fluval 13.5. then I got 2 kessil a80's. A few days later they opened up and started looking really nice. The color improved as well. I'd venture to say it is a lighting issue. maybe also a combination of water chemistry. I found that the zoas did better when the nitrate levels were between 10-15 and phosphates were around .02 - .05.
