Zoas won’t open

It’s been three weeks now and my zoas are still partly open and partly closed. I have done everything water changes, dosing remove Omg algae making my lights brother nothing has worked, I really need help.

corals do not benefit from white light, they need the color spectrum

Agree that they're stretching. Usually a sign of lower lighting. Partially open is always better than not open at all though! Sometimes the best thing to do is give them time and maintain stability. Trying to change too much at once can cause more harm than benefit.

I think my alk is a little low and my nitrate is way lower than befor last time I tested it was at 5.8-5.6

Agree that they're stretching. Usually a sign of lower lighting. Partially open is always better than not open at all though! Sometimes the best thing to do is give them time and maintain stability. Trying to change too much at once can cause more harm than benefit.

If you're going to run softies and LPS id say the best bang for buck is going to be running 2 AI Prime 16hd. Ive had alot of success with them

I wanna try finger corals, more frogspawn, very float corals like torches,hammers and plate corals. Do you think this light would word for that?

Zoas are not difficult to keep. Mine have spread all over the tank; they have become a nuisance.

Zoas require minimal lighting and flow to thrive.

I use a necrew light( you can find them on Amazon) I have realized I bought the one for freshwater after doing some research.

I want to buy another for powerful light but there so stupid expensive! I don’t wanna pay more that 180-200 dollars for a light, I know it’s bette for the corals but that basically how much is cost to setup the tank, including the price of fish.

Ugh about the technical stuff on lighting but I believe thats a lot they also have other size from 150,100,50,30 watts, I don’t know if it’s a good deal or it’s still not powerful enough

Yes they would grow all of that. Lights can be your biggest investment but they are also the most crucial piece of equipment to your coral health

Also, take note, mine looks almost identical, and are under 180w leds + 216w t5 (4x54w)....

If that is considered low light for zoa... Then nothing makes sense.....

Also i noticed today that stalks are getting transparent???????

Lights are by far the most expensive part of a reef tank, nothing else comes close to it in cost.

A 40 gallon tall will require a strong light to get to the sandbed, I am not so sure a nicrew or even AI Prime 16 will work for that depth, you will need something stronger.

this is you're problem
