Zoas won't open, but Acros are growing

This is my Fusion Lagoon 25 frag tank.
I can't figure out why my zoanthids are not opening.
The acro frags in the tank are encrusting and even a few new branches.

RO Water (5 stage BRS unit)
Kent Marine salt
Specific Gravity 1.025
Temp 78'f
pH 8.0
Amm 0.0 (API kit)
Amm 0 per Seachem Alert
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 20
kH 7.7
dKh (Hanna) 7.8
Phos (Hanna) 0.12 then 0.09
Calcium 450
Mag 1470

SB Reef Lights
PAR 60-80 from Seneye measurements.
All frags are dipped in Coral RX Pro before adding to the frag tank
I've tried decrease flow and then increase flow by adding an Icecap 1k Gyre to the tank.

What am I missing? Any suggestions is welcomed.

are you sure par is 60-80 thats very low for acro to be growing.
I have 2 frag tanks and one main tank. i can grow zoas like crazy in my frag tank but not at all in my main tank. Thouhgt at first because of my dwaft angels, but i later turned down my radion xr30 pro from 60 to 40%. i put new zoas in they close for a couple days then open up. so it might be your light is too bright, but if it is truly 60-80 par than i am wrong

Well Maybe my Ammonia is 0.2
API showed zero, Seachem Alert was Zero,
BUT here is my Red Sea Ammonia test.
Would you add some Amquel or AMquel Plus?
I'll do 25% water change today

Yes ammonia of .2 isn’t good. Need to get that down ASAP

MAN you are right, My Apogee 510 arrived today and check out this reading: 257 vs 100 Seneye
I guess that is my the Acros are growing!
NOW, is a 200+ PAR so much light that a Zoanthid would not open?

Surprised to hear this. My Zoas grow like crazy. In fact, it began to take over my rockwork! Zoas can become a pest! LOL

I honestly don’t think you have ammonia problem in your tank. Acro would be first to go not the Zoas

A lot of people grow Zoas under low lighting. If you suddenly put them in high lighting they won’t open she might melt

It could be a parasite or fish picking at them. So visual inspect them for that first. If that’s not it. It probably lighting or flow. They don’t like high flow

Water change first before any chemicals.

Chemicals are alternatives wheareas water change is solution.

How can the sps be growing with the ammonia but Zoas dying. That doesn’t make sense

I agree no chemicals yet and a water change can’t hurt I wouldn’t do 25 percent unless your salt mix and your tank water run the same alk

I thought Zoas like light. Mine are stretching to the sky but closed. what does that mean?

google zoas and chemiclean. wwc uses it and it worked for me

I used Vibrant on my tank and ever since my zoos won't open. My old school fish store guy says they hate the clear tank solutions like Vibrant. Not sure how true this is.
