Can someone share if they have zoas that are thriving what they feed? I have a few that look great and more that don't. Would really appreciate some feed back from successful zoa keepers.

I have mine on the sand bed near the front of the tank. Was feeding Coral Frenzy, recently picked up some Reef Roids as well to alternate with (have only fed them twice). Sometimes a piece of Mysis or an Omega or NLS pellet will make its way over to them as well. I'm popping babies everywhere on Orange Rainbows, Rastas, PPEs, Blondies, Utter Chaos, and Sunny Ds (all of the ones that have been in more than a week). I didn't test water for a month though and was up around 40+ ppm NO3 the other day.

I squirt it's a bit of the dirty water from thawing the frozen. I got good growth. When I stopped cause I got hurt and stopped caring for the tank as much the growth stopped too. So I think as long as you got a good food if you feed them they will grow.

I don't feed mine but they pickup what's in the water I'm sure.

I broadcast reef roids 2-3 times a week. my success is due more to parameters and microfauna floating around. IME zoas/palys dont "eat" reef roids.
Also I keep nitrates in the frag tanks around 5-10, Ive seen the best results with that and stable parameters. I also have a TON of pods but that will be changing because my new wrasse finally arrived at the LFS...backorder of 6 freakin months!

Thx. These colonies specifically are about halfway up in a 90 gallon with dual kessil 160we and 4x " ati t5 bulbs
thats another thing :) Lights. Most people will find that if youre not giving them enough light they will reach and sometimes the colors dull. I run a AI prime at 60% and theyre about 8 inches below the water surface.

My lower zoas are doing well also, but growth is nowhere near the others towards the top. They are colored up nicely and growing, just not as fast. Here's a few others at the bottom where I wanted to start a garden.

excuse the green mess. That has since been fixed. Lol

Whens everybody feeding them day or night because I also use a reef chili/roids mix and try to hit whatever is open at night (which isn't a often).

"Dirtier" water and closer to the lights works best for my zoas. Also, the less polyps, the longer it will take for the zoas to crust up and grow. It takes time and a mature tank, but IME, once they start growing it goes fast.

I feed just whenever. A four month old tank gives me enough heart attacks without adding when I feed to the list haha. That said, it's usually around 5-8pm when whites are off and ramping down.
