I'm thinking about trying to step into zoa's. I never tried my hand with them so curious are there any main concerns to look out for when looking at frags?

Most zoas are pretty hardy (all though some of the higher end ones can be a little more difficult to keep happy).

The most common issue would probably be zoa pox (looks like whitish pimples, and usually the zoas are closed). It’s treatable, but if not caught, it can wipe out an entire colony... With that being said, I don’t believe it’s a super common issue that many reefers run in to.

I’d say the the most important thing is to make sure the polyp is open, before purchasing. Also, I’d highly recommend dipping every coral you get before you put it in your tank.

I’ve got lots of zoas (and frequently sell them at our FRAG meetings auctions). If you’ve got any questions feel free to PM me.

Also, please get in the giveaway from Amber and I in the private AZ FRAG Forum. It’s an Armor of God zoa this month.

The person to go to is Jon and Amber, they seem to have a large variety of zoas and palys. I have quite a few in my tank from the frag meetings.

Thank you very much. I have been in contact with Jon.

Pretty soon I’ll need Jon to come over and prune some Zoas. LOL.. some are weeds. I have no faith in myself to frag them.
I’d be happy to to come help. Is easiest if they’re on a rock that can be removed from the tank.

Moderate light and water flow and a little iodine in the water and salinity of 1.025

Yea, I put all my Zoas on Islands that can get removed for this reason. Your help isn't needed yet, but I guess in a month or so it might be time for a hair cut.
