It depends, if you are doing mostly soft corals you don’t need to worry about calcium or magnesium yet. Test ph, alk , phosphate and nitrate. You’ll want to keep your nitrate about 10-15 ond phosphate about .05-.1

Got it! For now just soft corals but later on I might try the others.

Thanks you guys for sorting out my confused brain. For now I ordered salifert ph and nitrate and a bottle of Dr.Tims as an extra precaution.. As well as one of those ammonia alert things just for peace of mind as well.

The rock didn't really work with a PVC frame. Removed 30% of the rock to make it work. A new scape with existing coral sucks. Takeaway is prepare up front for maximum growth of fish and coral. Expect some @ in the tank to try and bulldoze the structure.
