00W's AIO Smorgasbord

That 13 minute video will put everything together for you Parker.

The one consistent trait amongst this group, is we do a fair amount of research and learning (from respected sources, cause there’s a lot that sound smart, but aren’t). I know for me as a new reefer, it’s my base knowledge that i come here and ask further questions.

Don’t get me wrong- we all ask stuff on the fly, daily (ME), without necessarily looking elsewhere, especially during tank emergencies, so please don’t think I’m calling you out.

Also, I know you’re a highly intelligent young man and DO research for this hobby; my suggestion on video was just to get a deeper dive cause the RODI subject as a whole can be complicated till you understand all the ins and outs. And I still struggle understanding it cause I’m not academic smart
Thanks for sending me the video. I will watch it now.

This button right here. If you see people getting out of line (Brandon threads, inappropriate comments - please don't report people on someone else's build thread unless they're attacking people - etc.) OR if you see someone constantly making an effort to make new people feel welcome or being overly friendly (this is where Hospitality Awards come from). When you see these things, click Report and tell the moderators why you're reporting. They can't be all places all the time and we can help them out.

The last 24 hours have been quite stressful for me (in the reef-keeping world). My delivery of Tangs was happening yesterday, and I went into full Mom-Mode worry.

First, I decided not to pick-up the Chocolate Tang (I’ll do a separate post in my thread on that later).

Second, because this was a chemo treatment week, I just couldn’t muster up the energy to drive to the LA basin from my house (2-2.5 hours way without traffic or accidents). I was really bummed, as it’s rare that I get to see facilities like Marine Collectors, but it just wasn’t prudent. Luckly, my LFS was going to that area anyway this week to pick up fish for their store at the wholesalers. They were able to pick up the Tang and bring him home to me. Of course, LA traffic being what it is (and movie filming along the PCH, it took a lot longer on the way back and he didn’t arrive to my house until 6:30pm last night. I had planned for about 3pm. I was so worried he was in a bag that long. I know, I know, that’s hardly anytime when you think about shipping fish, but I was pacing.

The later arrival worked out well, as my lights went out at 7pm and by the time we had acclimated the Tang, the Wrasse and Goby had already gone to bed in the sand. The Clowns were getting cozy in the corner.

I chose not to bring lights up to see him, so I only saw him in the bag and bucket, but the room was rather dark. Once in the tank, he chose a corner and was pacing. I, being the newbie that I am, panicked. Which translates to I didn’t sleep most of the night, I kept getting up and checking on him with indirect light from my phone. He was fine, sleeping under one of the big rockscapes or behind it.

When the lights came on at 7am, I saw him truly for the first time. I started crying cause he was so damnnn beautiful and I had waited a year to have such a fish and my tank. I am feeling overly blessed today.

I will be doing my standard Fish Update in my build thread on him and how he is doing today. Just thought I’d talk freely with y’all in this thread and keep my build thread more succinct. Even those it’s another long update. For me, the build thread is like a reefing journal; one that my family might enjoy someday reading about – so sorry, not sorry on the length.

Thanks Tim. Didn't realize that was an option. And I am assuming you speaking of my recent "call-out".

Thanks @tbrown , I’ve been reported 3 times since you posted this. I was informed I’m on triple secret probation :crying-face: !

Geez ,what did i do now... :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: ;)

This whole notification glitch on R2R is really starting to bug me. If you follow a thread, you should get notifications that someone posted! It’s basic stuff on the backend to correct.

I’m going all day thinking I’m up to date on my friends threads and then I wonder, hmmm, it’s been over a day. Go look, 5 pages…

This is a key feature of R2R - especially if you’re following a thread where you’re looking for help or information.

Ok, done ranting. Clearly the no sleep last night has caught up with me and I should just dive into the sandbed like The Puppy; cause I’m whiny.

Couldn't agree more!
I try and keep up but working all day it's hard and I never get notifications.
Thought it was just me.

What'd you do now?
Called out someone by name in our thread. I’m actually ok with it; but I also agree there are much better ways to address- and now i know it is a button!

Being the salty gal I am, maybe I should start a thread called, “FIX THE DANG NOTIFICATIONS”
I did get a notification a couple of days ago for something I posted a month ago.
Does that count?

Oh yeah that.
Didn't even register with me.
He's probably been called out on every thread.
You called him out on the original thread too.
It was a win/win. ;)
Tim is very forgiving.

Btw, making tacos right now!!! Gonna splurge and have a beer too.

Wish you all were sitting at the table, enjoying with me!
Yeah me too.!
My oldest son is getting married in July.
It'll be the first time back to Cali for us in 10 years.

Why yes I did. And I’m just teasing Tim; he’s just protecting my longevity on R2R!
