So today for some of our beginning reefers and just to educate myself as well I'm going to be tearing down my 2 reactors and I'll be cleaning up this mess on my back glass.
Should be entertaining since I can't remember how to do this every time
Didn't we talk about this last night?
Can't remember.
@EeyoreIsMySpiritAnimal ???
I think she said that was OK, the remembering part if I remember correctly.

Good luck!

So before I ever do anything on those days I'm curious about something I test.
I kinda know what I'm going to see but here goes.

Like I was expecting.
Nothing taking up phosphate in my system except this gross unsightly red algae which I loath and the reading is probably higher than that. :thinking-face:
So I mentioned the gfo was tired last week. Probably should have changed it then but procrastination happens in this hobby and I'm not that bright.

Realize this is coming from the town idiot but that isn’t to bad, mine has been running a little higher since I set it up. Wouldn’t hurt to get it between.05-.1 but I wouldn’t do anything drastic.

Looking at your tank often as I do with jelly running down my face I will agree with you as I usually do.
Goal is to get it in that range.

Here are the reactors.

I have used many types but these are by far the easiest to use in my opinion.
These are from brs but I made them fit where I want using fittings from home depot.
They are John Guest fittings and once you understand them you'll never go back.

Have you tried dosing Microbacter7 for the cyano? I’ve read good things about it out competing the cyano.

Have not but have been thinking about it.

OK so everything is hooked back up and I put it together correctly.! That's a first.
No water on the floor.
Make SURE you rinse whatever product you are putting in the reactors.
I use the small pump it came with and flush the lines in the sink until it is clear.
I do not like the sicce pump it came with. So noisy.
I hooked up a jebao pump which I can adjust and it's silent.

I filled the reactors with gfo and carbon from premium aquatics.
I have tried many, many, many products over the years but these are by far my favorites.
Gfo likes a slow tumble at the top, sort of like boiling water. You can use your dc pump to adjust that flow.
It's heavy and does no good if not tumbling. Just becomes a rock.
Carbon is in the second chamber and doesn't matter flow so much.
I tried a Rox carbon last week but like the bulk carbon better.

No promo add here but shout out to @premiumaquatics for great prices, tremendous service quick turnaround, free shipping and no BS.

Like I've said before most of you already get all of this but maybe someone can use this as a guide or to fill in the gaps somewhere.
I can also look back if I forget what I'm doing. ;)
On to the water change.

Probably a good time to clean this too.

Just cleaned this a day ago.
I have 2 neck extensions on this as well.
I bought this on eBay a while ago for about half of new.
Best thing I ever bought.

OK that's it.
Today's postings are I spired by @Katrina71 who's insight into a few things was spot on. :) :star-struck:
Thanks for everyone's patience have a great day and rock on.
I'm going to post some tests later.
I changed 20 gallons today which is a lot for me but very much needed.
