I agree. Last night was the first time I saw them. I left before the lights came on this morning, so i don't know if theyre still out or not. I was really surprised to see that.

Was finally able to play the video. Those are larval shrimp or hermit crabs. Some kind of invert. They are not baby fish. Really cool video. My gut says those are larval hermit crabs.

Very cool! Thank you so much for the response. I got 10 new hermits recently and the only other invert is a single skunk cleaner that I've had a while now. That is definitely what they looked like, but that didn't occur to me at the time.

I'm wondering too, because from what I'm seeing, they look like mysis or baby hermits. They were in a big pile by a couple hermits and swimming all across the back wall. I added 10 more hermits about a week ago

I read a similar post quite a while back and someone suggested that the frozen mysis we feed our tank contains eggs, I do see egg sacks on some, and that’s where they come from. I don’t think they would be viable after being frozen. Still can’t figure it out. Perhaps Aristotle was right and this proves spontaneous generation! In your face Louis Pasteur!

ironically most of the frozen mysid shrimp we feed are actually a fresh water species. Piscine uses these.

So it's my day to be dramatic apparently. I grabbed this really cool little scooter blenny that I've been wanting and learning about for a while now. I went into my lfs today and he had one. So of course I purchased it. It seemed as good a time as any with a million baby hermit crabs for him to feed on. He seems to like my tank and even ate mysis shrimp immediately. One problem. MY YELLOW DAMSEL. He keeps dusting him with sand and being aggressive towards the blenny. Trying to catch a jerk fish in a cube tank is looking impossible. I dont want him to hurt the new blenny.

do you have an acclimation box? may be easier to catch scooter ?
just dusting , not making contact ? would let it ride ,and watch close ,may just stop...

I had that issue too. My tailspot was a jerk to my clownfish, constantly biting him. I let it ride () and it stopped. Now they're friends.

just dusting , not making contact ? would let it ride ,and watch close ,may just stop...

Yeah, actually it is mostly aggressive dusting. It's like he wants to hurt the blenny but stops just short (most times). He is known as the tank jerk but wrasse and tailspot oddly keep him in check.

As long as the aggression seems more playful than mean best to let it ride as mentioned. It usually passes and these two fish are polar opposites and the damsel will most likely lose interest.

Lol the tailspot was a bigger jerk than the clown? I really hope that's what happens here. I just don't want the blenny to be injured.

You could put a trigger in there and it'd probably bug it too.
