1 mp 40 or 2 mp 10s on a 120?

I have two mp10's on a 120 and it works great. I am able to run them at full power. I know people with mp40 on this size tank and have to run them at half power. If you put the mp10's on the side glass, the glass thickness will not be an issue.

I have them on the sides facing each other. The programing works well if the are opposite each other. The gph rating on mp's is really underrated. They put out much more power than advertised.

I have a 90g with one MP40 and in order to get sufficient flow to the opposite side of the tank I had to have the mp40 turned up pretty high which was causing ill effects the the corals near by. So I adjusted my returns to help with the flow on the opposite side of the tank until I was able to buy an additional MP40. So I don't believe 2 mp10's would do it for you. and like you said You will probably want to look for an additional MP40 in the future to finish out the flow. but with that said that MP40 was a great purchase that I do not regret in the least.

it really depends on what type of corals you're planning to keep. If they require higher flow, then i think 10 would be a waste. go for 40 or even 60.
cost reasons, check out the jaebo.
