115 gallon shallow cube build

So basically euro bracing it. I would basically be placing a acrylic piece around the entire perimeter of the top of the tank.

Pretty much. You could use some nice colored stuff. On the outside edges and clear on the inside.

I like the idea. Give u something to set a screen tank cover on. For jumpers! Lol

I have no Idea If it is tempered on the bottom I would love to it would be awesome if i can. Another hurdle will be money i just found out today from my neurosurgeon that i can no longer work on an ambulance, I am a paramedic btw. I will have to find another job very soon so money is going to be tight and this build may take a while.

I hear yah. On the take a while part. I make great money and still have a hard time finding some for my tank.

Those are the cheap things that make a huge difference in the end though! Pumps n power heads skimmers lights. Ugh expensive. Freaking rocks! Yah $$

yeah i already priced out everything and all of it so far is going to cost about $1,000 luckily i already have some stuff off of another tank and i have a 40g breeder i can turn into a sump. If anyone has stuff they need to get rid of for cheap let me know.

Yah don't b impatient is all. Set it up for endgame! Lol. I got in a hurry.

Starting the reseal tonight considering its the cheapest part of the build. Also the top trim looks like crap that's why i want to euro brace it.

Ha. Cool tank though. I think it will be amazing when your done. When u pull the bottom ring off u should be able to figure out if it's tempered or not. The edges are supposed to be marked.

getting the silicone out is not as easy as i thought it would be but im making progress Ive got one top piece off and its looking like im going to have a lot of time into just removing old silicone.

ok so after getting the top trim off I have decided I will just euro brace it, would 4" or 5" wide be optimum and should I try and put them on when I reseal the tank or can they be added later. I really does look awesome without the trim though.

I will be picking up the two pieces tomorrow plate glass 36" x 5" to brace the top I am going to put them on while I reseal the tank.

I actually have decided to use 4 pieces to brace the top to ensure it will not bust considering all the panels are fairly long. I will overlap in the corners but I will buy some thing to use as trim to cover it up. I am almost done removing all the silicone its slow going I swear there was about 3 tubes worth I had to scrape and scrub off. Acetone is helping on the top parts kina don't want to use it on the joints so it doesn't soften the silicone between the panels.
