120 Gallon Salty Condo

Ups and Downs

Well..... :(

I left the house Friday morning and things seemed to be turning for the better. Came back Sunday afternoon and could not find either clown fish and one of the firefish was missing as well. Searched everywhere including the overflow box and nothing. After a little more searching I found the shrimp in an area of the tank where the normally are not at. Found the small clownfish had wedged himself straight into a rock and was dead.
So far 2 loses to this disease that is in my tank... Frustrating.

Still trying to find the other clown and firefish...

The Blue Tang is eating 100% like it normally does but still has some white slime all over it. The foxface is not eating that much at all and just swims around like a zombie and acting really strange. All other fish are eating well and doing good. Yesterday was day 10 of dosing Herbtana. Water change tomorrow. I put the skimmer back in the tank yesterday but it's just overflowing like crazy even with the gatevalve all the way open. I took the skimmer cup off and just let it run while overflowing. It just overflows into the sump so it's not harming anything. I am thinking that it is going crazy due to the Herbtana and is probably having to break in again due to being out of the tank for 10 days. I'm thinking it will settle after I do the WC.

Your skimmer will overflow for about a week. Sorry to say.

I glue animals to rocks.

Ok, good to know. Will the microbubbles affect any of the fish or corals? As of last night all the corals seemed ok as some of the microbubbles do make it into the DT.

Thanks again Chris. I've got an idea to valve the air input into the skimmer to try and throttle it back a little bit until all the medication is gone.

That sucks ryan. Just read the latest. I know your already into your medicine regimen but i had great success with kick ich in November. I hope everything works our for the good. I feel your frustration.

Sorry for the losses buddy. :(

Here are some updated photos of the 2 corals that I received via the February MTRC meeting. Thank you for those who donated raffle items.

A nice closeup of whatever sickness my beast has. It's eating really well as of now. Hopefully this will pass soon.

If you get a clean piece of PVC pipe and rest the meat coral on top of it it'll start to hang downand over the PVC. Making it appear even bigger.

That's a good idea. I like the coral just wasn't ready to have a coral on the substrate. That's a good way of lifting it off of the substrate! Thanks.

March '13 update

So I can gladly say all the fish are now healthy, eating as they normally do, and acting as they usually do. Thanks for all the support throughout this past month's worth of chaos!

I did come home from church yesterday and my FS had fallen off the rock and was laying in the back of the rock work in the substrate  This gave me the opportunity to move it which I needed to do anyways because it was starting to get awfully close to the purple monti and I think it might have even stung it a few times. So I got it moved and hopefully now the monti, the FS, and I will be happy.

Other than that all is going well. All the params were right in my "comfort zone" on Saturday before I did a 10% WC. The skimmer is back online and things are looking great!

The powder brown is doing great, thanks for asking. And is waiting for your visit, or maybe to help him move, LOL.

Now that you're well in to recovery mode with your current stock what are the future plans?

I'll be glad to help move, just let me know when. I got plenty of 5 gallon buckets that I can bring!

No plans as of right now but to wait at least 4-6 weeks before adding any new fish to the DT. In a few weeks I plan on starting my QT that will house the new fish for 4-6 weeks. That should mean no new fish in the DT for at least 8 weeks. I want to make sure everything is ok and healthy before adding any new fish. Still deciding on what to add for fish. Thinking a group of chromis or blue gobies, a purple fish of some sort (dotty back/basslet). And I'd like to add a blue linkia starfish and a sandsifting starfish.
For corals, I'd like to add superman mushroom, blue tort, and a clam.

Next big upgrade, looking for an Apex controller!

Good plan Ryan.

As soon as I know all of my details about the move I will post a thread over at the MTRC forum. Thanks for offering help, and buckets!
