120 Gallon Salty Condo

Few additions

Today I added a candy cane that I've been wanting to get for quite some time now. It has bright green centers surrounded by red with white stripes. I also added a tuxedo urchin, let's see how this one does compared to my last urchin. This one is quite a bit smaller but is still a little bigger than what I was hoping for.

I also made my own frag rack out of eggcrate and some magnets from BRS. It's V1.0 and I think I'll be working on V2.0 as this one is a little flimsy.

Tossed in a few other crappy iPhone photos for ya to check out.

In 2 weeks I'll update the progress on the GHA.

Unfortunately the Tang that was supposed to be shipped today didn't ship... Not sure what happened with it???

Looking good. I was supposed to have a couple fire fish shipped today that didn't get shipped either.

Good thing I didn't decide to chase the laser beam on the ceiling like a cat. Pictures will be posted in the a.m. Still can't post pics from my phone.

Big Update Time

Got the T5 fixture hung. Thanks to BKnapp for all of the help.

16 feet up doesn't sound that high but on a ladder is a different story.

Thanks to Bill and John for the hanging kit and instructions/tips on how to hang the fixture from the ceiling.
Lag bolts through the ceiling. Added a piece of wire tied around a wing nut and to a support to relieve the weight of the lag bolt so the drywall/ceiling doesn't support all the weight.

Here it is...

QT

I also added a medium sized two spot bristletooth to my QT as the original small one didn't make it. Could never get the little guy to eat. This one picks at everything on the bottom of the tank and I've seen it eat a few different items so far but will not eat anything from the water column yet.

The spot is on the glass, not on the fish. His mouth is a little beat up but I'm hoping for a fast recovery.

Got a small urchin from The Aquatic Critter as well. It's about an inch across.

What haven't I tried to feed him is more like it. Frozen brine, live brine, frozen mysis, cyclopseeze, pellets, seaweed tied to a rock, seaweed on a clip, seaweed shred to look like flake food, sinking herbivore food pellets, spirulina flakes... I saw it eating the shredded seaweed and the sinking herbivore pellets off of the bottom.

Got ya. Sounds like every food was covered. Is your qt operating 24/7? If so, might try another fish (don't have to be much of a fish) in there at the same time. Having a fish that eats on que for ya sometimes teaches others that it's chow time. My vlamingi taught my black tang to eat from my hands when he use to just dart out only for a quick bite. It's kinda like a eating response and security blanket. Fishy see, fishy do. Just my .02

Good points. The QT normally isn't open 24/7 but might turn into that. A 20 gallon long is kind of a small tank for a medium sized tang to be housed in but it's all I got so that is what I'm working with.

I'm wondering what kind of fish I could put in there long term to help the other fish learn... Some chromis maybe?
