125 build

Starting to build a new system. The 90 wave tank is getting packed. Some of you have helped me out with the floor support issue and I've used that as an excuse to go bigger. (Can't really do the floor with the existing tank there so I figured a second will make the move easier). The 125 is used and not drilled, so I will be visiting the glass holes web site. Thinking the 1500 overflow in the center with a return centered between that and either side y'd for a total of 4 return heads. Going to be a DIY sump and fuge. Probably 2 tanks plumbed together just have to see what fits under stand that is tbd. Budget is a factor so it will probably be a slow build, if you are interested be prepared to be patient. So far all equipment has been used and mostly from craigs list. Tempted to keep it that way but it would take forever. I have 2 koralia 1050s and a 750 with the wave maker controler. As far as other equipment I'm doing research and would love everyone's input. Going to be a group effort build

hate the finance part!!!!! but slow and steady wins the race in this hobby for sure! cant wait to see it come along!

Well so far I'm only 100 in so it hasn't hurt yet. Would love he apex and crazy LEDs and all kinds of other toys so trying to plan out so expansion is easy.

Yea that's the best thing you can do, just get everything you absolutely can before you even think about cycling!

Going to be transferring the 90 to it. Shouldn't be to much of a cycle. New sand old rock. Lol have started an aptasia tank in the basement. Once that's full I'll order some bergia and beat those things before swapping over

ok so on the glass holes site now to order the overflow kit. im thinking that with the size of the sump/frag tank I want I will need to bump up the overflow to the 3000. the 1500 was just cutting the flow rates to close. this is set up with 2" drain pipes. would I be ok with 3/4 returns or do I need to move up to 1"? or could I do 1" up to the bulkhead and then reduce to the 3/4 y'd off to 2 nozzles?

I would drill first because drilling leaves glass paste and whatnot around the area you drill and makes a mess. When I drilled my tanks I painted after, I probably would have scratched the paint and had to touch it up afterwards if I painted first

Yeah going to drill first I guess. Also started to think about the water sitting on the paint. Probably not the best thing for it

Bulkhead would cover any scratch area unless the drill got away from you
Long as you have something to catch the falling glass you'll be fine.
