125Gallon 1 or 2 MP40’s?

My previous post I’m saying the tds on regular tub/sink water is 180 tds
but the secondary (claimed by purification company as being even better filtered) tds is unknown

That’s on regular purified well water. The well water purification company says the secondary sink faucet where I get my ATO water from is even more purified. Again never had a way to measure its tds

Okay, since we don’t really know what’s left in the purified house water. I would run it through a RO/DI unit for peace of mind.

Does the whole house unit go through a water softener? Well water, I’m assuming it is.

Hey it’s okay, your welcome!

Look at it this way, there’s 180 tds of something getting into your tank. That needs to be 0 tds. Use RO/DI water only for the tank going forward as soon as you can. Mixed saltwater and top off.

You will need to do a water change soon. Do a 20% total water volume at first and then the next week do another 20%. After once a week do a 10% water change. Give it a month of this and let’s see if things turn around.

I personally use strait IO and have for years. It’s cheap and will have everything you need for quite some time till you fill up your tank with corals.

I can do as big of a water change initially if suggested. I have no problem with doing 50% water change etc.
do you suggest only 20% initially and 10% a week for a month as being best plan of action over a larger water change? You have my attention and I am going to take your advice and put it into action.

Doing massive water changes can be stressful to the corals you do have. Smaller ones, spread out over time will be better.

2 maybe three enen if you use gyres you may need three. Remember, corals like turbulent current.

20% total monthly. Can be broken up weekly, bi weekly or once a month.

i have one mp 40 in a mixed tank.
125 gallon
Should I add another mp40 or would that be too much flow?

I have 2 mp40s, 1 mp10, and one tunze 6055 in my 4ft 90g display. It is sps dominated however.

Regardless of what corals you keep you should definitely add another pump to the other side to help randomize and alternate flow, at a minimum.
