Is this an acan echinata ? Looks like rainbow chalice, epic! Frag please?!

It's an acan echinata. It is a really nice piece. If I do frag it. I have to cut it in half from top to bottom to make two flat pieces. This piece is 4" tall. Odd shape.

Borbonius Anthias. My fish cubicle system is still cycling but I got to have these. Both are eating mysis and is currently in my refugium at home. Wife wants to keep them. Wished my fish system is ready so I could get some more.

Thinking about taking apart and moving most livestock from the 300G at home to my shop. It would be fun to start over with new livestock at home.

Yes, I have chalices stinging each other. Some are more aggressive than others. Others have long sweeper tentacles. Acan Lords on the other hand, I have touching all over the place with no issues at all.

Finally purchased a 1000GPD RO/DI unit to keep up with my water demand.
Finished quarantine on a batch of nice Indo acros, Aussie acros, fungias, acanthophyllia, goni and chalices.
This week there are 20 ReefRaft Asia acro colonies and 4 chalices acclimating in the blue tub. Sorry for the horrible iPhone pics. Been very busy and too tired to play around with the DLSR camera.

How do you acclimate your coral? What kind of light are you using? I'm having a little issue with getting my coral acclimating to my new leds

I acclimate starting with temperature acclimation in the bag then check the water where the corals came from. ALK CA MG specific gravity etc. If the parameters are not far off with my water I don't even drip acclimate. Bayer dip the new corals and quarantine them for observation in the blue tub for 2 weeks. If all is good then they go in the main system. I could not imagine drip acclimating all corals I get. One buying trip for me is usually 20 to 50 corals and I'm a one person operation. This alone at least takes me 3 to 4 hours getting them ready for the blue quarantine tub. It's usually an 18 to 20 hour day for me driving to hand pick corals then back then properly placing them in the blue tub. Start at 8am finish at 2 to 3am.
As far as lights. I'm still playing around with lighting especially for my acros. I have the cheap MarsAqua LEDs hanging 24" to 30" above the water line. My corals sits under 8" of water. Recently I have tested my PAR on these lights. It's not powerful enough for acros unless it's right under the lights. Hanging at 24" to 30", the PAR I get is only 320 at best under the fixture. Blue channel at 100% and white channel at 80%. 4" under the waterline and the PAR drops to the mid 200s. Not good since I noticed some acros sitting on the sides started to lose color, brown out a little or peel at the bottom. I added another fixture to make three over my acro tubs and the PAR value under the light is around the mid 400s. A little better and the acros seem to color and hold. These lights will be replaced with Radion Pro G3 in the near future. Do these lights color and grow acros? Yes they do but not as fast or as brilliant as my Radion Pro G3 at home. The Radions are more powerful. You get what you pay for. For LPS these chinese LEDs are ok. I use only the blue channel at 100% for my scolys, favias, acans, shrooms, and chalices.

My tubs are full and not able to add anymore corals since I find my light coverage and PAR value is not quite enough. Also been very busy since my father passed away two weeks ago and have to spend more time with my other business. Have to slow down reefing for the time being but not for long though :).

Yeah right. Are you going to sell colonies or just frags. At least it looks like your acro frags are a few inches long.

Nice setup. Wishing you great success with your business.

Sorry for your loss.

Do you mind if I ask if you keep your systems fish less? I see little fish and sand. Is that the best for you?

I'm not seeing growth and suspect it's lack of sand and too many fish.

Thanks!
