Very nice tank! Congrats!

Is that an ATB Elegance Pro skimmer?

Very nice looking tank, look foward to following the progress on it :)

Great set up! Lookin' good!

Thanks everyone.

Rev, it is an ATB 840 v 1.5. Not sure if it is the elegance pro line. I've had it for a number of years though, replaced the pump once and it skims so much better now. And with the self cleaning head, really makes some nasty skimmate.

I put dead rock that I had out side, In my tank and those bugs,I call armadillo bugs. they crawled on those rocks for two days in salt water!!!. I could not believe they could live that long in salt water.

Sweet tank so far so good it seems

Same bugs. I couldn't believe they lasted in the SW as well. Surprised me.

Thanks LPS.

I'm debating relocating the sump/fuge to my closet that sits to the left of the tank. I would need to re-route the drain/return lines but I would think it would be nice to have the additional space in the closet. It is a pretty good size closet, approximately 5.5' x 8'. It would allow me to have a frag tank and make water changes a lot simpler. Only problem would be the mess it would make. I would need to go through the linen closet.

Here is the blueprint of the area. The tank is in the main bedroom on the right side wall and my plan is to move the sump into the wardrobe area.

1. If you could have a dedicated space like a closet it would be ideal. Easy access would be the number one perk for me.

2. Cool you got your wife on board to let you? LOL!

Well, I wouldn't say that I've got her on board. My compliant to her would be the noise, since I might be working from home again, the noise from the sump/skimmer can be a little loud. This would cut out a lot of the noise associated with the tank.

Thanks everyone. I got the go ahead from my wife to move the sump into the closet as long as I don't "make a mess". I'm talking with my builder next week to work out a solution that will look the best and not cause me to lose sleep at night.

I'm hoping this will allow me to minimize some of the maintenance, since I will potentially set up my profilux doser to do auto water changes and use my fresh water reservoir for my ATO instead of utilizing a separate container.

I talked to my builder and he suggested going through the secondary closet (which I was planning) instead of outside the house.

My question is related to the route to take. Should I drop the lines down to the baseboards and run them along the floor and then up into the sump (cleanest version), or should I go half way down the wall and then horizontal to the sump and drop into the sump from above (most efficient I believe).

On this picture, you can see the baseboards that I would run the pipes along. The 2nd option would be to run the pipes horizontally about 2' up the wall.

So I think that I'm going to run 2 - 1" lines and 1 - 1.5" line from the tank to the closet. I'll use the 2 - 1" lines for drains and the 1.5" line for the return. Hopefully tomorrow morning I can break out the hole saw and start cutting the dry wall, etc.

Got some work done on the pipe work and cleaned out the closet a bit. I'm still searching for a sump and will build the water storage shelves this weekend along with adding a few electrical outlets to the closet and perhaps a bathroom fan. I need to get this cleaned up by the 30th when my wife is having a baby shower at the house and we are out of town next weekend so it's go time. I also placed an order for 15 SPS colonies from Battlecorals so I need to re-aquascape today and try to make some more room in the display.

Trying to clean up this mess:

I drilled the wall for 2 x 1" drains and have 1 more hole to drill for the 1.5" return. I have punched throug the wall from the linen closet into the walk in closet and now I need to run the plumbing and figure out how to hide it once I get into the office. These pipes will be leaved once I connect everything.

One more hole to go:

Unfortunately, after looking at my house plans, we had a drain from the hot water heater that was placed right where I wanted to run my pipes so I opted to detour a bit.

And here is the other side of the walk in closet:

I have measured the current sump / fuge and I think that it will make a nice frag tank and fuge tank on top of my old 120g stand. Underneath will be the sump and to the left will be my water storage "tree".

Here is my old 120g stand and SW water storage container. I have an identical version for FW that sat next to the SW container. In the new stand, the FW container will be below the SW container.

And here is the other side of the closet. On the far left side, is my breaker panel so I'll add a new breaker and install some extra outlets.
