140g Pennisula rimless

Got a big SPS shipment this morning. Ordered 15 colonies from Battlecorals.com and apparently Adam forgot how to count, since I ended up with over 20.

All have been dipped and are sitting on the bottom of the tank waiting for me to re-aquascape to figure out where I"m going to put 20 colonies.

Hopefully I'll figure out something before my wife notices the new additions.

Recycling guy is going to love me next week.

Adam quadruple bagged everything, so this is around 80 bags

I am also acclimating 3 blue/green chromis and 2 cleaner shrimps. Been a busy day of FED-EX pickups and acclimations.

Thanks Barb. Definitely a busy afternoon. One of my cleaner shrimps ended up DOA though. Kinda sucks.

Got some more work done on my first closet over the weekend. Drilled out my last 1.5" hole for the return and bought some more pipe, etc.

Got the water change tower built. I'm thinking FW on top and SW on the middle shelf. I have the bottom shelf for storage.

Fits real nice right next to my frag/fuge stand. The sump will go underneath the frag/fuge stand.

I also dropped 2 - 15AMP GFCI to the closet which will help me contain the power into this closet. My father in law thinks I'm crazy for adding 2 - 15 AMP circuits, but better safe than sorry.

All the corals are doing well. I plan to re-aquascape today and hopefully find a sump. That is the last remaining piece of the puzzle before I'm able to plumb everything and get the switch over completed.

I ended up losing my last anthias and a small PJ cardinal over the weekend. Not sure what happened. Maybe the 3 baby chromis did them in.

How do you like your light? I have a Corlife aqualight pro 2 X 250 MH. But it has the PC's and not the T5's. Im guessing the price is so good on these now because everyone is going LED these days. But The light looks awesome and the T5's look so much better then PC's... lol Let me kow how you like it so far.

Looks like you are making good progress. Sorry for the losses :(

Thanks Barb. I'm not sure what happened to the fish.

Thanks Rog. I really like this light. In a perfect world, it would have a strip of LEDs for dusk/dawn and some extra umph, but I don't think that it is necessary. I only run the MHs 3 hrs each, so the heat is not a factor. I will probably need to bump up the MH now that I have more SPS in the tank.

I attached 48 inch reef brites on both sides of my coralife fitxture which are awesome. But im still looking for that umph when my MH's are on. Thats why i was thinking the T5's allong with my MH's along with reef brites would do the trick

I may do something later down the line with my fixture but I want to keep it looking all in one. I might put a small heatsink of LEDs between the MHs but I'm not sure yet.

wow very nice build you have love what youve done with everything

yess very nice peninsula style reef tank its crazy to see your tread cause i also am working on a 150 pen style reef tank.

Thanks wysiwyg and Shakeei.

Shakeei, what are the dimensions? I really like a pennisula shallow tank. Only trouble is getting flow to the opposite end. I may need to buy an MP40w or something similar to add some additional flow to that side of the tank.

I'm really excited about finishing the closet as well, unfortunately, I realized that the longest sump that I can use if I keep my current pump (snapper) is about 36". Anyone know of an internal return pump that will push 1000 gph with about 20' of head?

Looking great man! Sweet!

Thanks Rev.

Tested my water today. Looks like it is time for a water change but since I'm re-doing my fish closet, I don't have any water on tap. Might need to add some LaCl to get the PO4 down a bit. Must have snuck up on me the last few days with all the feedings for the new fish.

Alk - 7.392 dkh (a touch low, I'll bump up the doser)
Ca - 460 ppm
Mg - 1350
PO4 - .09

Got some updates from my last update.

I installed the new sump a few weeks ago, and finished up the plumbing from the closet back to the DT. I ended up putting 3-1" lines through the wall. I would liked to run a 1.5" return but the new laguna 2900 pump I bought doesn't need it, so why add it. I moved the fuge and sump last week and brought the fuge back online. I bought an DIY LED fixture for the frag tank, which I hope to get up and running next week. I ran 4 cat5 lines from the DT to the closet so that I could use my profilux to continue to control the lights and tunze that are in the tank. I need to hook up my profilux moonlights but I need to find a 6P6C splitter. I might stop off at the computer store on my way home tomorrow and get one. Least of my worries, but at least I could finish that part of the build side.

Here are some pictures. Frags/colonies are doing good. Lost one the other day. Not sure what happened. Just never acclimated to the tank I guess.

I have a manifold off the return that feeds the BP, GFO/Carbon reactors and the fuge/frag tank.

I have been following this for a while, great update! How do plan on concealing the pipes?

Right now I painted the pipes to match the wall, and probably until my wife mentions it, that is how it will stay. I may end up building a small enclosure to surround the pipes but it is pretty low on the priority at this time.
