150g Treasure Tank

The tank itself is looking good. Unfortunately, I have to give the fish another 2-week copper treatment because I apparently reintroduced the ich at some point. JUST in the qt, though, thank the Lord.

My black molly just had her third litter....45 babies O.O;; One died, so I'm down to 44, but holy cow. One is a different color from the others...wonder what it'll grow to look like :)

Kinda proud of myself, too, because I got the timing of moving her to the nursery down perfectly.

On a side note, I am exhausted...catching the last two broods, 100% water change (it was getting nasty in there), counting the new babies, and going through the ones before to decide if I want to keep any and moving the keepers to the other tank...whew!!

Eienna how's it going? Haven't seen you post in a bit.

How are those baby Molly? I'm about to set up my second macro tank and looking towards Molly again for a food source for the belted sandfish I'm hoping to raise.

Hey, you! :D
I'm excited, actually....one last week until I can start putting my fishies back in the big tank...I've waited a long time and this last week is killing me x.x

The baby mollies are doing just fine. You're welcome to come take some of them if you wish. The newest are not ready to go and I still have to choose if I want to hold any back from the first batch, but that first batch is about...a half-inch, maybe? 3/4"? I haven't attempted to measure them XD what size would you want them at, and do you want them for free or do you want to make a small donation to my fish-care fund (which is currently at $0, lol)? I've never shipped but if you can help with that I could make this my first attempt. I don't have $50....I have, like, $4 total right now.

The batch that's basically ready looks to be all marbles like their dad, but he darkened as he aged so you can barely tell he ever had silver on him except for his eye color. I figure his lightest babies should keep some silver.

I haven't been around so much 1 because I've been playing Neverwinter a lot and 2 I have my darling wife (technically fiancee) to look after.

I would have totally taken some off your hands if I had posted before. I'm actually getting my mollies in a few minutes! Darn, but if I need some in the future I'll definitely donate ;3

*chuckles* Probably better you didn't have to pay shipping, yeah? Mine aren't any better quality than anyone else's, though I do hope to create some fun color morphs.

Could have been! Already acclimated to salt water, probably stronger than the Freshies i bought from an LFS.

I do QT my fish, and these guys have had Prazipro and Cupramine used on them. So yeah. XD but mollies are pretty close to bulletproof anyway.

At what point of had-it-ness is it appropriate to start cussing at your tank? XD
I tried to find the peppermint shrimp so I could put it in the sump before my berghia arrive, but to look for it I had to rip apart my right-hand-side island, and have not been able to get the scape to work with my aesthetic sense ever since....

Never did find the shrimp. I suspect he's dead and scavenged.

Aaargh!! It's just one thing after another!! Now my hippo tang, Blue, has been murdered by marine velvet and I am praying and waiting anxiously (with copper in the water - thankfully they were still in QT) to see if anyone else develops it. Mo Hawk is not eating, so I'm fearful he may be starting it too.
I intend to purchase Formalin ASAP. I know it's more toxic, but according to my research it is much more effective in wiping out the velvet parasite completely.

I'm very grateful for my Monica through all this. She's been a huge help and makes me feel better when stuff goes wrong.

Wow @Eienna, that's unfortunate. I had something wipe up my tank a few months ago and never knew what it could be. Good thing you have the QT there to closely monitor.

Hopefully you can get a handle on it soon!

Thank you T.T I'm really beginning to miss my freshwater.

Thank you T.T I'm really beginning to miss my freshwater.

Don't let it discourage you!

Remember my old thread? I wanted macro algae so bad and I tried really hard, but nothing would grow. No caulerpa. nothing. I gave up and went to Freshwater and wasn't happy. Not to say I dont like freshwater, I love it as much as salt, but I didn't like the taste of defeat.

In October I decided to come back with a 20g and purchased really good LED bulbs. I could finally get my macro growing, but all my fish died. I didn't put anything in there for months, I just grew macro and kept inverts.

Now I have both my 20g and 29g set up. I learned from my mistakes. I read other threads and learned from them and I even learned from you! I've got some gorgeous gobies in my 20g and because I visit your thread I've acclimated three mollies to saltwater!

Everything we do in this hobby is a learning experience!

I'm sure you'll get through this!

Thank you so much <3
It has been one heck of a ride.

I seem to have arrested the breakout, but I imagine it's too early to tell....if anyone who reads this will pray for me and my fishbabies, please do. It's been a rough road and I don't know how much further I have to go before things get better.

It seems you have found yourself in quite a difficult situation.
What are your plans?
So far I seem to have arrested the spread of the disease. Today no one new looks unwell, aside from the fact that my flame hawk is now seriously afraid of me and won't eat in my presence. He seems slowly to be getting his usual spunk back, though, and did come out to try and scare me off XD I think he'll be fine.
All my fish were, thankfully, already in a separate tank from the main. They are being treated with Cupramine at its bottle-recommended concentration of .5ppm. I intend to order some formalin today in case I need it, but the way things are going it would appear that Blue is going to be the only casualty. Waiting and watching.

I'm seriously hoping I didn't contaminate the DT. Guess I'll know soon enough...Right now I'm thinking I'll put one of my baby mollies in first after their treatment is finished and watch what happens for about six weeks before adding anyone else.

Day 4 and still no sign of the parasite spreading. Going to continue the treatment they're on.

I need to put in a good word for my LFS, Fish and Frag Shack in Hemet. Tony, the owner, has been very good to me and helped us with a discount on the copper test I had to have. We were scraping barrel-bottom for cash but I knew I wasn't getting the copper level right; the velvet would not have shown itself in the first place. The test kit was the Seachem one, pricier than the API test I was hoping to find, and while I wouldn't expect him to do it for just anyone (we are definitely frequent customers and he knows my financial situation) he dropped about $4 off the price so we could get it. Give him your business if you're in the area; he deserves it.

Day 10....lost one of the older babies to unknown causes. Upon testing the water I found the copper had dropped to about .3. Dosed it back up to .5. Also, there's a brand-new batch of babies, this time courtesy of my white female molly. These things breed like rabbits on Viagra.

Day 11
Put down one of the older babies with a nasty bacterial or fungal infection on his back half. Treating it at this time was not feasible and it appeared to be hurting him, as his swimming was severely affected. I would guess that he and the previous dead baby got into a fight, causing the death of one and injury to the other, but it's just conjecture.

Everyone else appears well. I'm excited at the prospect of finally having fish in my DT again.

It's too early to be up, but I'm excited! I get to put a test fish in today! Hopefully it doesn't become a test sacrifice...I'm praying that I have not contaminated the reef with the velvet parasite. Guess I'll know soon enough.
