Hi All :)

Does anyone else have a waterbox 180.5 with mp40s?
No mater how much i tinker i cant seem to stop them creating a waterfall into the overflow causing me to crap my pants that my reactor is leaking...

Anyone had this issue and solved it?

Where are they placed? If I had them high enough to be impact the overflow much, they''d be creating a vortex for me...

I only have one at the moment.
Its placed on the left hand side.

Sounds like the waterlevel in your overflow is really low. Thats the only time i get noise from mine. Close your gate valve slightly until the level in the overflow box is just barely dripping into your emergency drain and see if that helps.

I'll give it a whirl.
Pretty sure i tried it and as soon as the water rose you get that big drain sound because it would fall straight down lol

Gotta take it very slow. Turn the valve just enough that you know it turned. I can tune mine to stay within a couple millimeters from the edge of the emergency drain. That keeps it very close to the hight of the overflow teeth so you don't get any splashing/running water noises

Can you take a photo for me? <3

Thats about where you want it. Your still getting noise from the mp40 with the level at that point? That pump must be pushing a ton of water to cause that much surface agitation. I have a Nero 3 that ramps to 100% periodically in my 55.2 waterbox frag. Its even with the front of the overflow and pointed at the surface. My surface agitation is no joke and I still don't have any issues with the sound from the overflow.

I have a ecotech m2 only on 50 percent the mp40 is on 60 percent.

Your water level in the overflow is a little too high. So water is trickling into the the emergency drain. Had the same issue with my 180. Just takes a little bit of tweaking. And just my $.02, But if you haven't already, pick up one of the filter sock silencers from Waterbox. That will take care of trickling sound at your socks. Should only need it for the front one. I ordered mine about 2 months ago and finally got it. Made a huge difference in the noise from the sump and now the tank is nearly silent. They really should sell the tanks with them. It was a bit of a buzz kill when I got mine up and running and hurt all the splash noise coming from the filter socks. I temporarily didn't it using one of my old socks on my old tank but the silencer is the way to go.

So it shouldn't be dripping the emergency at all?

This is where things can get conflicting. Some will run close others will run right at the edge with a very slow drip going into it.we need to pinpoint the issue, Is the noise your hearing from water going down the emergency drain or from surface agitation pushing excess water into the overflow?

It's actually very good at the moment. I need to bring the water down a touch more to stop the gurgle (sound coming from emergency) but the original more annoying sound is excess water going into the overflow.

Beat way I can describe it is like a wave crashing in

Are you using reef crest or tidal swell mode? What intensity? I think I limit mine to 85%. I went through a period where I was having a lot of noise coming from the overflow and it turned out the level in there had gotten a little too low. So when the vortechs ramped up it really sounded like a waterfall.

Currently using reef crest at 65% what are you currently using?
