you might want to put a union on the skimmer plumbing...in case you didnt. For easy removal for cleaning, and if you want to move the cabinet to get to the side of tank etc.

Since its the drain I didn't cement the connection coming out of the skimmer, so I can just pull it out.

We bought the supplies to build another cabinet just like it for the other side for storage. Will probably finish it up in the fall.

Sigh, I bought the RLSS 8-E skimmer and I don't know if someone had opened it before or something but the instruction manual and the o-rings that go with the waveline pump were missing. It leaked horribly, now I need go to Lowes tomorrow and buy a pair of 1 1/2 o-rings to fix the issue.

Tried all kinds of rings and washers with no luck. Finally went to a family owned hardware store on Smyrna and bought a DIY kit for rubber washers. Made my own washers and it's all together and running with no leaks. Woot.

On a side note my ammonia test must be too old, not giving accurate results. Think it's several years old, got it from the guy I bought the 92 from.

Learned three lessons this evening.

1. The slider on the front of my Compact Eheim 1000 pump does indeed control flow.
2. GFO won't stay in the reactor at 265 gph.
3. The small gravel vac I use on my 10 gallon works just fine on my sump.

No real need to run gfo on a cycling tank. And also, when you run gfo or any media that can escape, put a media bag on the the end of the outlet hose of the reactor.

265 GPH :jaw: You can cut that in half and you will get better contact time with the media. Carbon and GFO don't require high flow rates.

And like chris said, you prop don't need gfo in there yet, unless you have some high phosphates coming from something?

It's tuneable with the slider on the front. I have it dialed back do its just barely rippling the GFO. I have some dry live rock curing I bought from gmoney. Figured it wouldn't hurt to run the GFO.

Carefull to much tumble will grind the gfo up and you'll have gfo mud all in your tank.
