2 important questions

The badges don't hurt, but don't trust them too much. Mine stays on yellow, even when a test shows it should be on green or blue. (This has happened with two different badges in two different tanks.)

Tap water has certain minerals and additives in it that plants need that's why I was recommended to use tap water instead of Ro di water
Dechlorinator also has to be added to the water before hand , not directly to the tank ? Any water added to the tank the passes through filter media that has chlorine in it I'm sure affects the beneficial bacteria.

Never ended up getting the fluval but , went with a marineland 3 gallon little bow front type deal. I set it up today where the fish was . They wouldn't let me take it but I still spent $140 to give him a better housing setup. I added a dechlorinator by tetra and then tetra safestart. Should they be doing small water change daily or will fish be okay. Got a nice little 50w aqueon heater in there too , the marineland had a way better flow for a beta. The fluval flow was too strong to a lot of people. The fish is my nieces but I will help her with maintenance when I visit . I kind of want to set one up for myself now!

Once a week 25% water change should be fine

Looks good
Thanks man. I'll have to help them out with that . Maybe buy a gallon of spring water and dechlorinate it. This way take a gallon out and add a gallon! Easy enough. After adding it to that tank. It started swimming in like bursts ! And its fins look stuck together .

Tank looks great!
Thanks! It was a quick setup! Literally took day off decided to stop at a petsmart and just splurged . I want to get one for myself now. Different tank though. And more colorful fish.

I always had a betta tank up until just recently. They are great fish. It is very simple to maintain and they always come to greet you once they realize you bring the food lol.
