20 Tall Lighting for softies?

Thanks for the reply. I got the 50 watt. It's really bright on full blast so I turned it down. I'm getting the timer tomorrow so I can program it more precisely.
Yeah..... I would turn it down less white more blue and like 50% blue so less than 50% white and see if you need more from there. Work your way up. But its definitely a bright light.

Also the 30 watt nicrew will do like a 20"x20" spread so for a 20 tall you might want to do like 50watts. Thats a 24"x24" spread
Maybe put the blue on 75% hard to say since you don't have corals in there yet. Most softies can take as much light as you give them. Its lps that can't. My leathers can stand 300+ par no problem and kenya trees and zoas really no problem same with star polyps. They can just grow in lower light. Once you have like lps like a blasto or Acan they don't like a lot of light and won't do well in it.

I'll try that setting. Thanks! I've read corals need light acclimation so I assume slightly less than 50% to start with? Then work up to it over a week?

And mushrooms? I've read they need lower par or they won't do well.

You can put them in the shadows. My mushrooms move if they don't like how much light I put them in. They detach and find a spot with less light. If you have nice mushrooms I would care. If you don't have nice mushrooms I would put them in lowest light maybe corners of the tank with less flow.

If you have nice ones put them where you know its best. If you don't care too much put them where you like and see of that works. I like my mushrooms but they truly have a mind of their own.

Some of those are the size of my fist. Theyre in the corner protected by rocks low flow low light.

It's a pretty nice Rhodactis. I really like the colors. I got a good deal on it via a sale, but I would still be upset if it didn't make it. Especially since it will be one of my first ever corals. I want it to thrive. I have a couple ideas of where to wedge it.

Thats a nice rhodactis. I have one at the bottom of my sandbed right under my light and it is fine. But I would still put it in a corner and if it needs more light work your way in.

Sounds like a plan to start with. Thanks! I'm thinking of wedging it in one of these to areas. Even the far right might be okay because of that little overhang the rock creates. The other coral I got, clove polyp, also likes low flow so I think I'll try the three spots between the two of them.

The clove polps you should be okay about anywhere either spot for the mushroom should be okay. If you put him on the left and its too much flow then try the right and if the right is too dark try the left. Either should probably work though.

Thanks so much for the advice!
