240 gallon build

Looks good, man! I'm a little surprised to see that step stool. :D

Brandon
Thanks man! I know, I totally cheated with the stool but my back wanted to murder me trying to lift that big piece on the right!

That looks really good man.
Thank you good sir!

Looking good Nate!
Thanks Rob!

Love when a plan starts to truly come together!
Couldn't agree more, feel like I'm getting into the fun stuff now.

Looking good!! My 240 has been up about 20 months. I'm currently battling my first round of hair algae (just got done with cyno) I'm doing 50 gallon (20%) weekly water changes. That's a box of salt every 4 weeks. The fedex ground lady no longer smiles when she drops off my packages. Dr F&S are great with free shipping.

Why are the neighbors looking at me weird??

they're like "crazy cali hippies"

Better than Trini hippies. :D :pound:

Too bad we don't have some of those Ca LFS to stock our tanks from for the selections are far superior from what we settle for...Looking real good Nate, Hope to get back up soon as i can.

Definitely know that look by fedex since I had all my rock and sand delivered! Do you have a build thread? Would love to check it out.

If they think we're hippies now, I can't wait to hear what they think we're growing once the lights get fired up haha!

Thanks Bill, I know this think will be looking empty for a good while but it will get there eventually!

Sa-weet!

Where did you get your salt?

Brandon

Emerald Bay scored it for me! Interesting to see how it mixes with the recent posts. What are acceptable ppm for uranium btw?

Nice! I think you're good under 10 ppm. :D

Don't know if this has been covered in this thread or not yet, but are you planning on using carbon, GFO, bio-pellets etc? If so, what reactors are you using and did you do a manifold?

Man, great question! Reactors and dosers are definitely new territory for me since I used to do everything by hand in the smaller tanks. I have no doubt at some point I will be setting some up on a manifold and an extra dc pump. My thought right now is that would be phase two when I can also add on an apex and do everything properly. I was guessing maybe 2-3 months of letting the tank settle with the basics and then set up reactors/dosers accordingly. What do you think?

I think you don't need to wait as far as carbon or gfo or biopellets. The dosers and controller can wait for sure. But no reason to wait on nutrient controlling media. The last thing you want is to have numbers creep up and then you have to act hastoly to bring them down. The tank will settle better if you keep the numbers low to begin with.

You got me into some good research and I'm thinking I'll definitely be setting up GFO/Carbon. Any thoughts on the BRS jumbo combined reactor?

On another note, no salt yet. Still waiting to get my temp up and had a little overflow yesterday, so had to do some damage control haha!
