240g tank move DIY

also i had to move a 150 the other day on the stand with fish still in it and the sand, i used 1/2 pvc pipes as roller to move it along easily across the floor. That may help you when you go to put it on the stand.

those look like the same wheels i used to move my 265 tank. i just lifted one side at a time with a strap around my shoulder and had my g/f put cement blocks under as i went up. I do have a bilateral hernia and it's things like this that remind me i need to get it fixed lol
Yes you definitely need to watch it when moving heavy things with a hernia!

Thanks! Yeah I have used that method to move things before. Wooden dowels, too.

Need some input!!! For the decorative moulding should we center it with the little squares or butt it up to the moulding above it so there's not a small crack showing? I'm torn because I think it looks best to be centered on the squares but I also think since it would leave approx 1/8" space, that doesn't look good either... kinda hard to explain but I think you can see what I mean in the pics...

Centered with gap on the left and butt up against top moulding on the right

And this is what we decided to do on the sides to cover the gap that runs down the center from top to bottom.

it looks great either way, but personally it would drive me crazy for it to not be centered.

p.s. nice to see another north Louisiana reefer on here. there aren't many of us it seems.

I decided to butt up the top trim together for no gap and I think it turned out nice. Thanks for the input.
Not the greatest pics because I just got finished putting on all the trim and filling nail holes with filler and it's dark outside but here's how it turned out.

Very nicely done! I could never understand 32 inch stands. I like how you raised this big boy up were you can’t even tell with the nice trim work. Great job.

Thanks! I agree... I don't want to have to bend over to look at my tank... I'd much rather have to get on a ladder to work in the tank :p

Updated pics in the light of day... also I sanded down all the wood filler I did last night and I filled some more holes and cracks that I missed in the dark yesterday. It's almost ready to start staining!

I got both sides and most of the front stained last night but I ran out of stain so I had to quit. Total bummer that I couldn't just finish it! I have to take my son to TX today to see a specialist and won't be back till late so there won't be any progress for a day or so...

Just a preview...

I still have to build the doors but that can be done after we get the tank put on the stand.
Oh and of course I still have to poly it, too.

What happened to the original doors?

Yep they're on there. How'd you connect me to DFWMAS? Obviously I must've said something in a previous post but I can't remember :)
Where do you live in TX?
