260 gallon stand and canopy build

Looks good. I am curious can you get your skimmer cup out for maintenance? It almost looks like it goes right to the top of the stand...

Yes I can get it out from under there but there is not much extra room. Good thing my skimmer has a pretty shallow cut. Lol ill start plumbing today when I get home and maybe add some water to see how it all works.

Started to work on the canopy a few hours ago. I built it out of 2"X3" and 1/2" birch for the outside. I need I add a hole for my fan and I'm ready to pain the inside white then start to stain it.

Looks like it's coming along nicely. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks guys! I have been working my butt off on building this stand and canopy. I should have the small amount of rock that is in my 72 gallon reef transferred in this week.

Got my last reflector today. I ordered 3 from marine depot and they sent 2 and then discontinued them, what the heck! So I had to find one on eBay that looked the same.

I will be transferring all my rock, corals, and fish into the 260 today from my 72 gallon. Hope it goes well!! I'll be using my old sand( after a good rinse) and them I'm almost done, I need to buy some more live rock soon to fill this huge tank up.

And then let the frag buying frenzy start, this will be an sps dominated tank some Lps since my wife likes to see them move. Lol

Man I had a long night, I transferred all my old sand( after a very good rinse ) all rocks are in and the few corals I had left. My temporary tank didn't work as well as I thought it would.:( my 3 fish are in and happy to have lots of extra swimming room.

I will be done with the canopy today ( i dont have doors yet though ) and it will have the lights installed when I get off work then it's going on the tank. I'll add some photos of the whole tank tonight!

I bet you did. I hate transferring tanks!

I bet you did. I hate transferring tanks!

And now that I have to climb a ladder to reach the bottom of my 260 it was even harder. Lol at least the tank was only 8 feet away. But rinsing 150lbs of sand was the real work out!

This will be the last move/transfer I have to do for a very very long time!
